Shania Leeh Chehab

Lighting Designer

Shania Chehab is a freelance Lighting Designer and artist working in live entertainment including: concerts, theatre, and corporate events. Their career has taken them from theme parks, to film sets, to local festivals. They have a B.A. in Technical Theatre from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota where they also minored in Psychology & Color Theory.

Shania enjoys exploring the applications of psychological elements into their designs, as well as implements of technical and theatrical elements to enrich other disciplines, such as medical research. Their passion for lighting can be seen in each of their projects, including their β€œMel” project which analyzed the effect of lighting on the emotional perception of audience members. They love to travel and originally found their love of lighting through a design opportunity in London.

In 2018, Shania accepted an opportunity with Walt Disney World Resorts where they focused on advancing their skills in lighting; as well as audio, effects, pyro, and video. While in Orlando, they met their husband, Mike. Together they decided to move to Michigan where Shania worked as an Assistant Master Electrician at a regional theatre. During the pandemic, Shania ran a political campaign for a state candidate and advocated for out of work entertainment technicians. They also co-founded Nue Realm Marketing. Since the come back of live events, they have been working as a freelance lighting designer and electrics stagehand.

In addition to lighting, they also work in other branches of the artistic world including as a director, make-up artist, and multi-disciplinary creative. Their marketing company provides graphic design, web design, photography, and more to local small businesses. Finally, they have a passion for teaching and are always excited to work in youth theatre or an educational setting.
